The theme originates from the world of Hans Christian Andersen and expresses itself through a wealth of creative interpretations.

Familiar surroundings can suddenly feel different, revealing new stories, ideas and possibilities. At the same time, nature offers a welcome break from the pace of everyday life. The Flower Festival celebrates this green retreat, inviting visitors to slow down, engage their senses and enjoy the atmosphere around them. It is a place to relax, reflect and reconnect with nature in a calm and inspiring setting.
Where imagination and tranquillity come together, nature takes on a new dimension. Nature encourages us to slow down, look closer and see familiar surroundings in new ways. It becomes a place where stories can unfold, and where reality and imagination meet. This meeting of nature and imagination is at the heart of this year’s theme, inviting visitors to slow down, explore and experience the festival with fresh eyes.
Inspired by H.C. Andersen’s fairytale The Elder-Tree Mother, the festival’s themed exhibition at Flakhaven brings together flowers, nature and storytelling in an inspiring and imaginative setting.
