Himmelhviskerne (Sky Whisperers) is a mobile theatre performance that follows the theme of war through the works of Hans Christian Andersen. In a procession through the city, the fairy tales are unfolded through text, music, dance and powerful visual storytelling.
Although Hans Christian Andersen describes a time historically far from our own, his words are still relevant today. In a Lit de parade of Hans Christian Andersen's writings, we follow the brave soldier who returns home from the war in The Tinderbox, we follow the adaptation of the wounded soldier's body, like the tin soldier with one leg, while the tones of Andersen's war hymn ‘Jeg har en angst som aldrig før’ (‘I have a fear like never before’) can be heard from the singers in the procession.
The procession pulls a mythological hearse behind it, carrying the sorrow, anxiety and depths of existence that soldiers are struck by when everything is at stake. Himmelhviskerne transform the city into a mythical space that, over two hours, unfolds the great events, focusing on the magic of fairy tales and the art of storytelling.
