Nature, Tranquillity and Imagination at the Odense Flower Festival 2026

Nature has a special way of inspiring the imagination. Its shapes, colours and ever-changing character encourage us to look at the world from new perspectives.

Familiar surroundings can suddenly feel different in the nature, revealing new stories, ideas and possibilities. Nature reminds us that there is often more to discover when we take the time to look a little closer.

At the same time, nature offers a welcome break from the pace of everyday life. The Flower Festival celebrates this green retreat, inviting visitors to slow down, engage their senses and enjoy the atmosphere around them. It is a place to relax, reflect and reconnect with nature in a calm and inspiring setting.

Drawing inspiration from H.C. Andersen’s fairy tale The Elder-Tree Mother, nature and imagination form the framework for this year’s themed exhibition at Flakhaven. The exhibition will be a sensory and atmospheric interpretation of the story’s universe, where reality and fantasy converge, and where nature becomes an active participant in the experience.

Festival guests are invited into a blooming landscape filled with colors, sensory experiences, and little surprises. Here, there is room for tranquility, contemplation, and curiosity, while paths, plantings, and atmospheric elements invite visitors to explore and let their imaginations run free.

The themed exhibition is developed by landscape architect Helle Nebelong.
