Experience stunning new musical compositions by the Danish composer Johannes Steinray, performed by a full symphony orchestra accompanied by a rhythm section, soloists and a choir, as the H.C. Andersen Festival 2026 opens at ODEON venue.
The music is an orchestral, lavish interpretation of the life of the poet Hans Christian Andersen, as well as of selected characters and situations from some of his many fairy tales. The songs are a delightful mix of intimate ballads, fast-paced modern musical songs and moments of impressive, cinematic grandeur.
On stage, you can experience the Odense Symphony Orchestra alongside four of Denmark’s very best musical theatre singers: Caspar Phillipson, Isabel Schwartzbach, Lea Thiim Harder and Anders Gjesing, who will treat you to a unique world premiere of 20 of the greatest songs from the upcoming musical ANDERSEN.
Don’t miss the very first notes from the musical that is currently being created to become the definitive international musical about Denmark’s greatest cultural figure of all time.
Notice: The lyrics are in Danish, but the music can be enjoyed by all.
