With breathless circus acrobatics, live music and irreverent humour, GRAND DANOIS delivers a performance that is as moving as it is rebellious, challenging our notions of freedom, wealth and our vision of a good life.
We meet a bedraggled and delightfully dysfunctional circus troupe living on the road – with sawdust in their lungs, popcorn in their pockets and a worn-out circus heart beating for something greater. Home is where the caravan Lotte is parked in the ditch and the dream lives on: A real circus tent! A world tour! Applause and recognition!
But in the midst of the quest for freedom, questions arise: What is the cost of following your dream? And is it the journey itself that is the greatest adventure?
GRAND DANOIS is contemporary circus at its most vibrant, loud and life-affirming – a performance that will make you laugh, shudder and think.
About the company
Cirkus Grand Danois is a newly formed, Danish contemporary circus company, consisting of four Danish artists trained at circus schools abroad. They believe that circus can unite art and popular culture, be inclusive, challenge existing power structures and foster greater understanding. They have their roots in Danish busker and circus families, and several members are second-generation artists. They are united by a shared love of contemporary circus, circus life and the philosophy that goes with it.
