Phønix feat. SangKa

A truly special concert experience awaits both children and adults when the Danish folk music band Phønix invites the Chinese guzheng player SangKa to join them on stage. Together, they create a completely new and unique soundscape where two very different musical traditions meet.

SangKa’s guzheng has a dreamy, harp-like sound that contrasts beautifully with Phønix’s energetic and groovy style. At the concert, you can enjoy traditional songs, new melodies, groovy rhythms and dramatic stories that spring directly from Chinese and Danish musical culture. Along the way, the audience will be invited to join in with clapping and singing, and, not least, to learn to count in Chinese.

About the artists:

SangKa was born and raised in Beijing. She began playing the guzheng at the age of five and graduated from the China Conservatory of Music in 2007. She is now a professional musician involved in several bands and projects.

Phønix is one of Denmark’s most experienced folk music bands. Their unique sound draws on the Danish song and music tradition, which they revitalise with a modern and distinctive sound. Their intense and energetic performances have taken them to both major folk festivals and intimate club venues around the world.
